A 24-year-old left-arm wrist spinner from Malappuram, Kerala. He comes from a humble background, being the son of an auto-rickshaw driver. Despite financial challenges, his passion for cricket drove him to excel.
This year’s auction he was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) for 30 lakhs. He made his debut for the Mumbai Indians (MI) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 23, 2025. In his debut match, he impressed everyone with figures of 3/32, dismissing key players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, and Deepak Hooda.
Vignesh was first scouted by MI’s talent team and got the chance as a net bowler for MI Cape Town in the SA20 league, where he got the opportunity to spend lot of time to train under the guidance of players like Rashid Khan.
His consistent accuracy and performance under pressure earned him accolades, including a special award from MI owner Nita Ambani.
After seeing his performance in the practice sessions and considering Chennai’s spin friendly wicket, MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene got convinced to make him play for the first game against Chennai Super kings.
